Abstract

This study explores the shift from traditional to digital courtship, focusing on individuals aged 18-50, active on dating apps and social media. It identifies types of Conversation Analysis such as Adjacency Pairs and Topic Management. Interestingly, the study finds that respondents commonly reciprocate gestures and respond cautiously to unknown messages. It also highlights the prevalent use of emoticons and humor in online courtship. Consequently, the research concludes that the suitor typically initiates the conversation in online dating, and respondents have varied approaches to building relationships. In light of these findings, the study recommends awareness of the diverse user base and potential risks in online dating.
