Abstract

Reviewed studies revealed limited researches on how sana all really works as a response in everyday social media interactions. In such light, this study was conceptualized to describe sana all as an expression across ages. This study employed basic descriptive qualitative design. Criterion sampling was used in choosing the participants. Aide-Mémoire was used as the main data gathering tool. Fifteen (15) Ilokano participants aged 13-60 years old from Santiago, Ilocos Sur took part in this study. A family member, friend or schoolmate for each of the main participants also participated as part of the triangulation process of the study. Then, the data were analyzed using the cool and warm analyses. It was found that the expression sana all is commonly used by participants to express desire or wish to experience the positive situations of others and influenced by their awareness and exposure to others’ lives, especially through online communication. Furthermore, it functions both as a way of conveying personal aspiration and as a source of inspiration, which can influence individuals in both positive and negative ways. Hence, future studies may look into the context of sana all in daily communication.
