Abstract
The related literature has confirmed the exploration of the experiences of Pre-Service Teachers in the Filipino Subject. That is why this phenomenological research was conceptualized to know and delve into the practice of twelve (12) Pre-Service teachers in the Filipino subject at the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College-Tagudin Campus. Through review and analysis of transcripts of the data, themes emerged discussing the experiences of Pre Service teachers: shaping their teaching ability, preparation of lessons and teaching materials, companionship and collaboration within the school, concern for students, understanding the different characters of students, and having fun in teaching. The analysis also revealed the problems they encountered which include lack of teaching equipment, financial support, challenges in teaching language and literature, and self and work pressure. To address their problems they employ various mechanisms: research on the expansion of knowledge, productive and resourceful in developing supplementary materials, and consultation and openness to criticism and advice. Through their experiences, they acknowleged that they learned new teaching strategies; their professional identity is formed; and they became aware of actuality of the profession. Despite the difficulties in teaching, teachers in training are determined to embrace the instructional environment.
